Saturday, November 17 through December 23: Bachman's might seem like a strange place to catch a holiday show. But for the last two decades, the Minneapolis plant and garden retailer has staged their Santa and Albert the Elf show. Santa is played by professional storyteller Mike Mann. Albert is played by Kevin Dutcher, an actor who also happens to run the music for the Twins ballgames. This year, Albert tries to teach Santa to dance, with unintended results, as a surprise gift for Mrs. Claus. Check out a preview here. The 25 minute show gives the audience a chance to sing carols and take some post show Santa photos. : through December 2: "The Cat in the Hat" by Dr. Seuss is being performed for the first time in the United States at the Children's Theatre Company. First produced by the National Theatre of Great Britain, this stage adaptation is directed locally by Jason Ballweber using Twin Cities actors and the Brits' set and props, which faithfully mimic the book's line drawings. All the dialogue is pulled straight from the rhyming text, with no additional words. Lost Egypt through January 1, 2013: Climb a fake camel and see a real mummy in this exhibit at the Science Museum of Minnesota.
